Show a permitted ground with evidence
Appeals of academic pause or exclusion may only be made on the permissible grounds. You must be able to demonstrate with evidence that you had circumstances beyond your control that significantly impacted your ability to succeed in your enrolled units during the study periods concerned. You must also be able to demonstrate with evidence that those circumstances have changed sufficiently that you will be able to succeed in your future enrolment in units.
The evidence must be true and must relate to those grounds. Do not invent or exaggerate a reason, backdate or alter a document, or obtain a certificate for an illness you did not have. An appeal will not proceed if it does not disclose a permissible ground, is not accompanied by sufficient information to allow assessment, is frivolous, vexatious or misconceived, or is outside the scope of the policy.
What exclusion means for re-admission
Exclusion means cancellation of your enrolment in your Course of Study for two years. Re-admission must then be applied for through the University's admission processes. To return, you must lodge an application for admission with the appropriate Admissions Office by the deadline advertised and in the manner prescribed. You may not apply to study another course at the University during the period of Exclusion. The pages we read do not state the advertised re-admission deadline; confirm it with the Admissions Office.
The Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Dean of Students) will contact students on Exclusion to discuss their student success plan at the time of Exclusion and approximately six months before the end of the Exclusion period.
